We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Director of Engineering who understands people, business, technology, and customers' needs. You'll combine solid execution skills with empathetic leadership to lead our core Engineering teams, driving core product capabilities and cloud platform operations.
You will directly manage Engineering teams comprising some 10+ cross-functional engineers covering a blend of development, infrastructure, and operational responsibilities, most of whom are based in our main Copenhagen office.
In this role, you will serve as the key engineering leader at one of our main offices and become a central part of the broader technology organisation. Reporting directly to the C-suite, you will own execution for your product area, ensure tight collaboration with Product and relevant cross-functional teams across the organisation, and act as the visible representative of engineering at your site. Your leadership will directly influence our ability to deliver secure, high‑quality functionality to customers, and ultimately drive our company's growth and success.
About the Role
Take end-to-end ownership of execution for one of our core product areas – ensuring the teams deliver new functionality on time, to high-quality standards, and to strong security standards.
Partner closely with Product Management to define what we build, how we build it, and when we deliver it – translating business objectives into clear, realistic plans for the teams.
Lead, coach, and develop a cross-functional team of 10+ engineers as their day-to-day people manager, with a focus on growth, motivation, and performance.
Act as the senior engineering representative for one of our main offices – shaping and nurturing a local culture grounded in teamwork, shared ownership, and delivering output that matters.
Bring immediate focus to stabilising and improving execution: establish predictable planning, follow-up and delivery practices across the teams in the first months.
Drive alignment and collaboration with our international technology teams, including regular online coordination and occasional travel.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and governance teams to meet operational, quality, and assurance goals
Continuously refine team structures, ways of working, and processes (e.g., CI/CD, release management) to increase flow, reduce friction, and support our growth ambitions.
Contribute to a longer-term strategy for the engineering organisation together with senior technology leadership, bringing your experience from mature tech environments to raise the bar over time.
Your Experience
10+ years in software engineering, including 5+ years in technical leadership covering architecture and delivery
4+ years of direct people management (including performance management), with a proven track record of building healthy, high-performing teams and managers
Proven track record of driving consistent, on-time delivery of complex software products with high quality and security standards, in close partnership with Product Management
Experience leading cloud-native services and production operations (including observability, CI/CD, infrastructure as code)
Strong background as a hands-on software engineer, with solid technical understanding
Experience leading cross-site or cross-functional collaboration (e.g. across countries/time zones), aligning multiple product and technology units around shared business objectives
Demonstrated ability to build a healthy engineering culture in a fast-paced, change-heavy environment (ideally in a high-growth context)
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills in English

The Hiring Process
1. 30-minute screening call with the recruiter, Christian Payne
2. 60-minute in-depth interview with the hiring manager, our CTO (held remotely to start, with an on-site follow-up later in the process)
3. 60-minute interview with our CPO (remote)
4. Final interviews - On-site 2 hours. Complete the online personality assessment followed by a 60-minute feedback session with our Head of People & Culture. Then a 60-minute final in-person meeting with our CTO
