Shape the Data Backbone of European Automotive Tech

At AutoProff, we’re transforming how cars are traded across Europe — and data sits at the heart of that transformation. We’re looking for a Director of Data to build and lead the foundations of our data-driven future.

Based in Vejle or Copenhagen, you’ll lead a growing data organisation that powers everything from daily decision-making to AI-driven products — unlocking the full potential of AutoProff’s data as a strategic business asset.

The Mission

Data is core to how we operate, grow, and innovate. Your mission is to define, build, and scale how AutoProff collects, commoditises, productises, and monetises our unique data advantage — while fostering a culture where data is trusted, actionable, and transformative.

You will also play a key role in integrating AutoProff’s data strategy within the broader AutoScout24 group. This includes leveraging central data capabilities and infrastructure, while building the local data competencies required to support AutoProff’s distinct B2B wholesale model. Acting as a bridge between local and group-level teams, you will align strategies, minimise duplication, and ensure shared value across the ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

• Define and drive AutoProff’s long-term data strategy across infrastructure, engineering, governance, and analytics.

• Build, inspire, and scale a high-performing data team spanning engineering, analytics, and reporting.

• Prioritise investments that balance scalability, compliance, and measurable business impact.

• Partner with product, commercial, and finance functions to embed data at the core of decision-making.

Analytics & Insights

• Lead Analytics Engineering: Build our semantic layer and KPI logic (currently SQL-based), introducing modern tooling such as dbt to scale data transformation.

• Drive Business Analytics & Reporting: Deliver high-impact dashboards, certified reports, and actionable insights.

• Champion a data-first culture, empowering stakeholders through storytelling and self-service analytics.

Governance & Stewardship

• Own business-side governance: KPI glossary, dashboard certification, and stewardship processes.

• Partner with technical governance teams to ensure data quality, lineage, and GDPR/PII compliance.

• Build a foundation of secure, trusted data ownership across the lifecycle.

The Core Skills You Bring

• Proven leadership in data or analytics strategy, ideally within scale-ups, eCommerce, or platform-based businesses.

• Experience managing teams across data engineering, analytics engineering, and BI/reporting.

• Deep understanding of data governance (technical and business).

• Fluency in modern data stacks (AWS, dbt, orchestration tools, BI platforms).

• Excellent communication skills — from technical teams to senior executives — with strong storytelling ability.

• Strategic mindset paired with hands-on capability to drive delivery in a fast-scaling environment.

About AutoProff

AutoProff is on a mission to digitalise European B2B car trading and become a prominent used car sourcing channel for European car dealers, as well as a leading sales channel for fleet owners, OEMs, and financial institutions.

AutoProff was founded in 2013 by the experienced car dealer Jesper Ratza in Denmark. The aim was to digitalise B2B used car trading, helping car dealers increase sales and improve profits.

In August 2022, AutoScout24, the leading specialised pan-European online car marketplace, acquired a majority stake in AutoProff. The partnership has supported the rapid expansion of AutoProff's solutions across Europe and enables the creation of Europe's first fully integrated C2B-B2B-B2C dealing solution for used cars.
